Eight Chinese cities and five power plants have been included on the blacklist of China's Ministry of Environmental Protection for their illegal behavior and have been asked to rectify their faults within a given period.<\/p>\n
The eight cities are reported to be Cangzhou in Hebei; Jinzhong in Shanxi; Suihua in Heilongjiang; Sanming and Jinjiang in Fujian; Shiyan in Hubei; Yongzhou in Hunan; and Shangluo in Shaanxi. These cities were accused of having outdated waste water treatment facilities and inefficient operations. MEP asked these cities to rectify the problems before the end of this year, and MEP said it would suspend the approval for the construction of their new chemical oxygen demand facilities if they fail to do so.<\/p>\n
In addition, five power plants, including Tianjin Chengtang Thermal Power Plant, Hubei Ezhou Power Plant, Sichuan Luzhou Chuannan Power Plant, Guizhou Yaxi Power Plant and Guansu Jingyuan No. 2 Power Plant, have been criticized either for faulty operation of desulfurization facilities or providing false data on smoke emission.
