Angered by the Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions' manipulation of their elections, a team of staff from the Construction Site Workers General Union, an affiliated organization of HKCTU, went to protest at Hong Kong SAR government offices and the HKCTU headquarters, asking that the election result be overturned.<\/p>\n

Zhang Dexing, secretary general of CSWGU, disclosed to the media that the workers' complaints against HKCTU had been accepted by the Independent Commission Against Corruption of Hong Kong and the Employee Trade Unions Registration Bureau of the Labor Department, and the latter would suspend the inauguration of the newly elected councilor of CSWGU. Zhang stated that CSWGU would no longer be an affiliate of HKCTU no matter whether the election result would be canceled or not. <\/p>\n

It was learned that when CSWGU held a general election earlier, HKCTU intervened and manipulated the election by arranging people to vote, which infuriated the current councilors and members of CSWGU.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
