Liu Youping, the deputy director of the China Charity and Donation Information Center, has disclosed to local media that the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China is drafting a new rule on disclosing charity information.<\/p>\n
It is understood the disclosure of the use of donation funds has been a major concern of donors. In addition, NGOs and non-profit organizations also hope that the government will work out a practical rule to regulate the disclosure of charity information. Liu said that CCDIC is now conducting a survey about the new rule but he refused to reveal further details about it.<\/p>\n
According to a report released by CCDIC, only 12 of the 28 organizations that are approved to collect donations for Sichuan earthquake relief have published information on how the funds donated were spent or transferred. In addition the information disclosed by the 28 organizations is not transparent enough though the relevant parties did well in showing the sources of donations.<\/p>\n
The report said the Internet is not efficiently used in disclosing the charity information and reporting on the use of the Sichuan earthquake fund donations was far from satisfactory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
