Du Ying, the deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, disclosed at a recent seminar that China will enhance the pilot program for the ecological environment compensation mechanism, in selected regions.<\/p>\n
According to Du, China has made some progress in ecological environment compensation in the origin of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, and the Lancangjiang River in Qinghai province and the water source of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, but there are still some problems. Therefore, the country would be making a regulation to clarify the basic rules and related issues of ecological compensation and further classify the rules according to specific fields like river ranges, forests, pastures, marshland, and mines.<\/p>\n
Du stated that China would focus on supporting the construction of the necessary infrastructure involved and actively direct commercial banks and social investment to environment in addition to increasing the state's investment.<\/p>\n
It is understood that China will select some regions for the pilot program and initiate the program in Tibet this year. By offering fund subsidies, targeted assistance and support, it hopes the mechanism will help cover the loss caused by the construction of ecological environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
