China's Ministry of Civil Affairs and the China Children's and Teenagers' Fund have jointly set up a complementary medical insurance mechanism to offer medical insurance for orphans.<\/p>\n
Dou Yupei, the vice minister of MCA, said that there are more than 570,000 orphans in China, and there are still problems with their security, particularly with regard to medical insurance.<\/p>\n
It is learned that the special insurance will cover 12 major classes of malignant tumors (including leukemia), major organ transplantation or the transplantation of hematopoietic stem cell, acute renal failure or terminal kidney disease, serious aplastic anemia, benign brain tumor, acute and sub-acute liver failure, meningitis sequela, polio, serious juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, serious Kawasaki disease, myasthenia gravis, and Insulin-dependent diabetes.<\/p>\n
According to Dou, the insurance will be available to all orphans registered with the civil affairs department, including those that are healthy and those who have already been diagnosed with the diseases listed.<\/p>\n
