China is going to implement a foster program targeting mentally disabled and physically disabled citizens.<\/p>\n

From 2009 to 2011, China Disabled Person's Federation will work with the Ministry of Finance to carry out the program, which is called Sunshine Home Program, to offer foster services to mentally and physically disabled people. China's central finance department will spend CNY200 million each year subsidizing the program which covers expenditure for items such as rehabilitation training, technical skills training, and the living costs of the disabled people.<\/p>\n

Cheng Kai, the vice councilor of CDPF, said that there are currently more than 4,600 organizations in China providing foster services for about 100,000 disabled people. However, as there are a total of 18 million mentally and physically disabled people in China, fostering services are in short supply.<\/p>\n

It is learned that the Sunshine Home Program funds will be offered to various charity organizations fostering disabled people, non-profit foster institutions established by social entities or individuals, and families that foster disabled people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
