Taiwanese Airliner Gets China Airspace Approval

Taiwan's China Airlines has received permission from China to fly over mainland airspace starting next week.

China Airlines said it expected 52 passenger and cargo flights per week over mainland China en route to European and Asian destinations, such as Frankfurt, Vienna and Hanoi.

China Airlines' announcement comes after oil prices surged to record highs just above $70 per barrel earlier this week, so this is seen as a way to cut costs for the airline company.
