MII Approves Consumer-Friendly Tags For Quality Electronics
The Quality Electronic Goods Management Project, which has been approved by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and organized and implemented by the China Electronics Enterprises Association (CEEA), has been formally launched in Beijing.
The project is an attempt to help consumers determine the identity of electronic products through a small label or tag affixed to each product.
Luo Tao, secretary-general of CEEA, says that the project is intended to promote quality products and restrict the circulation of counterfeit electronics on the market.
The "Quality Electronics Goods" tag adopts internationally advanced anti-counterfeit technology and each tag corresponds to a particular product. In this way, it helps consumers lower the risk of buying fake electronics.
However, it is still not mandatory to use the tag, and enterprises may choose whether they wish to adopt it.
