The star rankings of two hotels in Haikou, Haikou Bell Tower Hotel and New Nanyang Hotel, have been recalled due to deteriorating facilities and unregulated management.

The two hotels were rated 2-star, but now will not be able to carry any designation.

Six other unnnamed hotels have been warned about their own premises and told to rectify the problems or risk removal of their designations.

Haikou's Tourism Bureau has reviewed 45 low star hotels (three-star and below) which were granted the star ratings before October 1 this year. The result shows that most of the hotels in the city have reached the standards corresponding to their rank, but there are still problems such as aging equipment and inadequate management in some of them.

So far, 12 star-grade hotels in Haikou have seen their rankings revoked this year.
