Shopkeepers at Beijing's Silk Alley, famous for selling fake clothing brands, have donated more than RMB200,000 to help hundreds of poor students.
China Daily reports that the Beijing Youth Development Fund accepted a cheque from the shopkeepers last weekend during a special ceremony at the market called "Light of Love Shines at Silk Street."
About 1,000 girls, all children of migrant workers working in Beijing, will benefit from the donation, with each receiving RMB200.
