Carrefour To Build Its First Green Store In Beijing

Fan Weide, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Carrefour, disclosed that Carrefour will open its first green shopping center near Beijing's East Fourth Ring Road before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Fan says that the store will adopt the most advanced green design and will use high-efficiency materials to reduce the consumption of resources. Fan says almost everything in the store will be environmently friendly.

This is also the first time that Carrefour has bought real estate to open a store. Fan says the company decided to build the shopping center on its own property to ensure the quality of design and the use of environmentally-friendly technology.
