Garbage Collection Train To Run On Qinghai-Tibet Railway

News

A garbage collection train will be arranged weekly to collect the trash along the railway after the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is put into operation on July 1, 2006.

Garbage tins and sewage treatment centers have been positioned at stations along the route. By the time the garbage train is launched, all the waste and sewage will be collected from these sites.

Due to the long distance it covers, the trains along the Qingahai-Tibet Railway are expected to produce a lot of trash. In order to prevent the rail line from being polluted by the trash, special waste and sewage collecting devices are installed inside the trains. Also, a high-tech trash-collecting system is fixed at certain stations along the railway to ensure the environment is protected.

The trash train will be run once a week to collect the trash in the fixed collection stations and carry them to Golmud for treatment.
