Chinese Launch Second Wal-Mart Union
China's Xinhua News Agency reports that 42 employees in Shenzhen have established a second Chinese trade union for Wal-Mart.
Last week another union for Wal-Mart was launched in Fujian province.
Zhou Liang, a 27-year-old employee, was elected union chairman, and Wal-Mart has not issued a statement yet on this new development.
With thirty initial members for its first union, Ke Yunlong, chairman of the Wal-Mart Labor Union, says the union will organize activities for employees and help them handle labor-related affairs in order to achieve mutual benefits for both the company and employees.
Wal-Mart has opened 59 shopping centers in 17 cities in China and has over 30000 Chinese employees.
