In the 2006 Supplier Satisfaction Survey Report published by Shanghai Business Information and China's FMCG Research Center, Wal-Mart was recognized by suppliers as a "satisfactory retailer".
Ninety-eight suppliers, from over a dozen industries, responded to the survey covering 51 retailers in the Yangtze River Delta. Wal-Mart scored the highest in a number of supplier satisfaction indexes such as "overall satisfaction index" (3.78 points) and "credit index" (4.19 points).
Wal-Mart says it firmly believes in local procurement and recognizes that quality products can generate more job opportunities, support local manufacturing and boost economic development.
According to Mimi Lam, Vice President Merchandising, Wal-Mart, "The result is recognition of the partnership between Wal-Mart and our suppliers. This partnership is built upon mutual trust and respect and is beneficial for the healthy development of the retail industry. We'd like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to the continued support from our suppliers and look forward to bringing this partnership to a new height in the future."
