Tourist Complaints Up 3.5% During National Day Holiday

China's National Holiday Office has published tourist complaints from the recent National Day holiday, which show that there were more complaints than last year.

According to the statistics, NHO received 177 complaints between 13:00 on September 30 and 08:00 on October 8, an increase of 3.5% compared with the year before.

Of all the complaints, 42 were made against travel agencies, down 28%; 44  concerned scenic spots, down 4%; and 33 about hotels, up 7%. Regarding travel transportation, there were 8 complaints about airlines, decreasing by 64% compared with the previous year; 23 complaints about road transport, up 21%; and 4 complaints about railway transport, which equals last year's numbers.

During this year's National Day holiday, China received a total of 133 million tourists, an increase of 19.3% year-on-year, and achieved RMB55.9 billion, an increase of 20.7% with each tourist spending an average of RMB420.
