China's Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs has listed 33 China-based multinational companies that have violated environmental protection rules.
Collected from various local environmental protection agencies, the names of these companies have been compiled because they have not fulfilled promised eco-friendly obligations.
Some of these companies are subsidiaries of Fortune 500 businesses, including Shanghai Panasonic Battery Company, Changchun Pepsi Company, Nestle Sources Shanghai Ltd, and 3M Shanghai Rubbing Products Company.
Ma Jun, director of the Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs, says that these multinational companies cover industries such as food, electronics, chemicals and machinery. Some other popular brands, such as Pizza Hut in Shanghai, are also included in the list.
Ma says this list is just part of the total record of multinational companies disobeying regulations for water pollution and other environmental violations. None of these companies have publicly reacted to this list.
