Seattle's City University is celebrating its tenth year in China and is thanking its partnerships with Boeing and Schneider Electric.

Boeing has sponsored the MBA for managers of the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China and Chinese airlines since 2003. The first two cohorts were in Beijing followed by additional cohorts in Shanghai and Guangzhou. City University's partnership with Boeing was initiated to support the education and training of managers in China's growing airline industry. Since its inception in 2003, the Boeing program has graduated 75 students. City University was chosen by Boeing to provide management education in Chinese airlines because of the design of the program, flexibility, and course structure.

Established in China in August 1996, after receiving official approval from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, City University formed a partnership with the Canadian Institute of Business and Technology Corporation School of Business, and the Beijing University of Technology. CIBT is a leading business and technical school that has been providing training to students for over a decade in China and operates three campuses in Beijing, as well as other campuses and learning centers in other cities in China. BJUT is a member of the select group of Chinese institutions participating in Project 211, an initiative launched by the Chinese Ministry of Education intended to strengthen higher education in China.

The unprecedented growth in China has fueled the demand for increasing numbers of trained professionals to manage China's various and dynamic enterprises. City University responded to the demand and began offering its Master of Business Administration in Beijing. In December 1998, City University received approval for its MBA program from the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, the highest authority in the Chinese government concerning degree and certificate affairs.

In an effort to expand its collaboration with and benefits to China's development, City University recently formalized an agreement with the University of International Business and Economics. Under the agreement, a one-plus-three program was established that will allow students to complete their first year of undergraduate studies at UIBE and then transfer to City University in the U.S. to complete their four year bachelor's degree. This initiative will provide Chinese students a seamless approach to engage in and complete a U.S. style and education program. UIBE is also a member of Project 211.

Founded in 1973 in Seattle, Washington in the United States, City University is a private, not-for-profit university with over 41,000 alumni worldwide. City University's goal is to change lives for good by offering high quality and relevant online and in-class education options to any person in the world with a desire to achieve. The university is comprised of three schools: The School of Management, The Gordon Albright School of Education, and The School of Arts and Sciences.
