China Youth Development Foundation has raised RMB339 million with CCTV-2 for an outreach program called "Warm Spring 2007: I Have a Dream" in Beijing.
The money raised will support the schooling of children from migrant workers' families. At the event, a welfare auction was held where a gold medal donated by Xiong Ni, famous Chinese diving athlete, was acquired by home appliance retailer Suning for RMB1.28 million. Air China bought a sneaker donated by Liu Xiang at RMB200,000 and donated RMB600,000 in addition.
All the funds raised will be used as welfare funds for the Hands By Hands Program, a welfare project which aims to help children from migrant workers' families go to school to receive education.
Set up by CYDF, the Hands By Hands Program receives social donations to help underprivileged children complete their studies.
