For the second consecutive year, Otis Elevator Company has been awarded the "Caring Company" title by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service in recognition of its achievement in corporate citizenship.

"We are honored to be recognized again by the HKCSS," said Stephane de Montlivault, Managing Director of Otis Hong Kong. "The award goes to everyone at Otis. More than donating money, our employees have devoted their personal time and efforts to live up to Otis' caring philosophy."

Since 2005, Otis has joined forces with the Hong Kong Christian Service to unveil the "Elderly Caring Ambassador" campaign, jointly organizing more than 11 community programs, such as elderly home cleaning and visits; one-day excursions to HK Wetland Park with the elderly; and visits to elderly care centers. These activities drew over 500 employees and their families, who contributed over 1,440 voluntary hours, to serve 450 single elderly people in need of care and love.

Otis employees also extended their care to the needy overseas. While the tsunami tragedy is now a distant memory to many, Otis Hong Kong employees recently joined hands with their South Asia Pacific entities to raise HK$312,000 to build a permanent medical clinic and community centre in the remote Samatiga region of northern Indonesia.

Otis' caring values also touch the families of its employees. Benefit policies accorded to Otis Hong Kong employees are reaching their families in more than the conventional health care areas. One of several such family-friendly benefits grants subsidies for the purchase of school books for employees' children. Much like in its community activities, Otis shows how sincere it is on caring about its "extended family" by involving its employees' personal time in organizing family events sponsored by the company. In one such initiative, Otis Hong Kong devotes one day every year to invite employees' kids to the workplace, letting them experience and get familiar with their parents' work environment.

The HKCSS launched the Caring Company scheme in 2002 with the mission to build a caring community by cultivating corporate citizenship and promoting strategic partnerships between the business and social service sectors.

As a Caring Company Award winner, Otis was recognized by the HKCSS to support employee volunteering, be family-friendly, partner with the social service sector, share business expertise with social service organizations, and give to the community.
