Mo Wenxiu, vice president of the All-China Women's Federation, says that sex education will be provided to young women from rural areas who are working in cities.
Mo says that many women, working in cities far from home, are young and lonely, thus they are eager to fall into relationships. Under such circumstances, they may have emotional troubles and have sex easily with people. As a result, suffer pregnancies and abortions and are hurt both physically and mentally. She says that ALWF will help them live better, noting that some young female migrant workers have low awareness of their own health and hygiene.
According to Mo, the federation is crafting legislation to ensure the legal protection of female workers' rights. Relevant legal articles will be written into pamphlets distributed to these women. Meanwhile, a telephone hotline at 12338 has been opened to female migrant workers.
China has about 120 million migrant workers. A survey by the State Ministry of Agriculture showed that about 30% of them are women.
