Chinese computing enthusiasts can now look forward to purchasing a new energy efficient personal computer.

VIA Technologies and HP together have unveiled the HP Compaq dx2020, a highly energy efficient commercial PC for the China market powered by the VIA C7-D desktop processor. The companies say the HP Compaq dx2020 PC meets the needs of businesses across the commercial spectrum.

"It is vital that companies across China, not just in the largest cities, gain access to the vast productivity, efficiency and online resource benefits of IT and the Internet," said Wenchi Chen, president and CEO, VIA Technologies, Inc. "The HP Compaq dx2020 represents a great opportunity for many more Chinese businesses of all sizes to upgrade their operations while minimizing their power costs and environmental impact, and we are delighted that HP have selected the VIA C7-D desktop processor to create this excellent value proposition."

Environmentally sustainable computing is a key element of system design. Fully RoHS-compliant, the HP Compaq dx2020 features the power efficient 1.5GHz VIA C7-D processor, the world's first carbon free processor with a maximum power of just 20 watts for much lower electricity use than traditional PCs, and has achieved certification by the CECP, the China Government's key energy rating agency, for its highly efficient operation.

Designed from the ground up for reliable commercial performance, the HP Compaq dx2020 combines leading performance per watt with all the latest PC technologies, including DDR2 system memory, Serial ATA hard drive, and USB2.0 for 480Mb/s connections to bandwidth-hungry peripherals. The VIA UniChrome Pro II integrated graphics processor features hardware MPEG-2 video decoding acceleration for smooth DVD playback, multi-channel audio and 128-bit 2D and 3D graphics engines for an enhanced multimedia experience.
