Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will launch a global eBay charity auction to benefit Care for Children on June 13, 2007.

Twenty Shangri-La properties have created exclusive travel experiences with a combined retail value of nearly US$200,000 for the 10-day online auction ending June 23. "Journey to Shangri-La" packages feature luxurious accommodations and exceptional experiences in city and resort destinations in Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Auctioned items include:

– Scuba diving in Shangri-La Marine Sanctuary in Cebu, Philippines
– Caviar-and-wine twilight Beijing city tour in a chauffeur-driven Hong Qi (Red Flag) limousine that once exclusively transported China’s top leaders · Private sunset dinner yacht cruise on the Singapore River
– Tour of famed Beijing art district 798 with Robert Bernell, renowned Beijing-based art publisher and collector
– Private catered dinner and viewing of art at Shanghai’s chic Art Scene Gallery
– Unmatched dolphin and whale watching off Oman’s shores
– Private ranger-guided exploration of the Orang Utan Nature Reserve in Borneo
– Gourmet champagne picnic atop the Great Wall of China
– Daytrip to Macau, Asia’s gaming capital, from Hong Kong by helicopter

Individual auction items range from a decadent ultra-luxury escape in Shanghai valued at more than US$50,000 to an Australian weekend getaway in Cairns worth US$1,630.

Shangri-La will donate money raised from the auction to Care for Children through eBay Giving Works. Care for Children works in partnership with local and national governments in China to establish foster care programs for orphaned and abandoned Chinese children.

Established in 1998, the nonprofit has trained over 184 orphanages throughout China and transformed thousands of children’s lives as they move into their own families for the first time. CFC has a "vision for a million" abandoned and orphaned Chinese children to be in long-term foster care by 2010. Care for Children is a registered charity in the U.S., U.K. and China. For more information on the organization, visit www.careforchildren.com.cn.

Shangri-La became CFC's first and only hotel group corporate partner in 2005.
