Kweichow Moutai, the brewery of China's national Moutai liquor, will formally initiate its anti-counterfeit system on July 1.
At the beginning of this year, Kweichow Moutai announced plans to invest a considerable amount of money to update its packaging system to include an anti-counterfeit ebonite cap and anti-counterfeit tags in the hope of preventing fakes and assuring customers of quality products.
According to local media, Kweichow Moutai's anti-counterfeit ebonite cap features "3+2+1 Technology", which seems to mean a combination of three second-tier anti-counterfeit technologies, two top-tier technologies, and one special code technology. The new cap will enable consumers to identify the product and to easily judge whether the product is genuine. Kweichow Moutai is reportedly the first liqueur maker in China that has adopted this technology.
In addition, the company will also upgrade its anti-counterfeit tags and replace them with new ones that have precise printed shading and background color change feature for consumers to easily distinguish the products.
