Shunyi District Invests Millions To Improve Airport

Beijing's Shunyi District government has invested over RMB22 million improving the environment of the surrounding area of the Beijing Capital International Airport.
According to the local government, about 85000 sqm of illegal buildings have been dismantled, 1.95 million sqm of deserted land cleaned, 91 waste treatment sites removed, 57 illegal waste recycling sites abolished, 36 outdoor markets straightened out, 8.08 million sqm of roof top cleared, 6700 sqm of outdoor advertisements cleared up, and 2500 advertisement signs and 110 construction sites regulated.
Shunyi District said they did all this as part of their tasks to improve the environment for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
