Zhou Yiyue, director of Health, Welfare and Food Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, has told Xinhua that from the end of June, the Hong Kong Hospital Authority will provide professional training to nurses in Guangzhou.

The move has been made as an effort to help the mainland improve the nursing skills and enhance the communication between Hong Kong and the mainland in the field of medical service. Starting at the end of June, the first batch of 120 nurses from Guangdong will go to take a 10-month training on therapy, orthopedics and surgery at eight Hong Kong hospitals including Queen Mary Hospital and Kowloon Hospital.

Hong Kong Hospital Authority signed the nurse training agreement with Guangdong Provincial Health Department in May this year. According to their agreement, Hong Kong will provide professional training for nurses from Guangdong Province in the next four years.
