SARFT Bans Plastic Surgery, Transsexual TV Programs
Following the ban of a beauty show on a Chongqing television station, China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has now issued a circular, forbidding TV stations from participating in the planning, making or broadcasting of various shows involving plastic surgery or transsexual themes.
In addition, the circular emphasizes that TV stations must abide by the relevant rules and undergo certain procedures before they run competition programs participated in by the general public.
Guangdong's plastic surgery show program Mei Li Xin Yue has become the first program to be affected by this new circular.
