Zhejiang Exposes Misleading Healthcare Product Advertisements

Zhejiang Provincial Food and Drug Administration have exposed ten fake or misleading advertisements on medical instruments or healthcare products, including the well-known Qumei weight-loss capsule.

Local media reports say Qumei is a prescription medicine made by Taiji Group's Fuling Pharmaceutical Factory, but the enterprise advertised it in the mass media and used some unscientific terms to promise its function and effectiveness. The company also used some public figures like famous actress Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi and Miss World Guan Qi as spokespeople.

The blacklist also included advertisements on some other medical instrument and healthcare products, including Guoyi Shengfang brand refined coronary software capsule made by Jilin Yongli Pharmaceutical Holding Co., Ltd; Tea Pigment Capsule made by Jiangxi Lvse Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd; Tianditong Infrared Nano Ointment made by Wuhan Tiandi Zhijian Biology Engineering Co., Ltd; Zihuan brand Cervical Spondylosis Therapy Instrument made by Guangzhou Kepeng Electronics Co., Ltd.; Shuangqi Capsule made by Wuhan Dongfang Zhizi Biology Engineering Co., Ltd.; Xiongjiujiu Capsule made by Shaanxi Feite Biotech Co., Ltd; Zhifengtang Propolis made by Beijing Zhifengtang Product Co., Ltd.; and Propolis Yangsheng Bao made by Nanjing Zhongke Biology Research Institute Co., Ltd.
