China Southern has made a written apology to passengers who had been affected by the delay of its CZ3200 flight which was scheduled to fly from Lanzhou to Beijing and promised to pay each of the passengers RMB800 in compensation.

In the evening of August 31, China Southern's CZ3200 flight encountered mechanical failure just before departing. As a result, over 100 passengers were delayed at Lanzhou Airport for 33 hours before China Southern finally arranged for another plane to take them to Beijing.

According to the passengers, the plane should have taken off from Lanzhou at 20:55 on August 31, but due to a mechanical failure, its departing time was postponed again and again and it was not until 04:00 on September 2 that China Southern arranged for a plane to take them to Beijing.

According to local media reports, the passengers said they were unsatisfied with China Southern's service following the mechanical failure as the airline did not arrange accommodation for them and instead just had them wait in the waiting hall of the airport for 33 hours. As for food, the passengers complained that the airline only gave them some simple food like instant noodles.

After four hours of negotiation with the passengers, China Southern finally agreed to pay each of the passengers RMB800 in compensation, which a manager from the company claimed to be the highest amount of compensation they had ever paid passengers in such an event.

According to relevant regulations of Civil Aviation Administration of China, airline companies should compensate passengers for economic losses caused by delayed flights of more than four hours caused by the airlines' own problems.
