Chongqing Municipal Environment Department says that they have recently adjusted the city's noise standard areas and divided noise control areas into four categories to keep citizens away from noise pollution.

Under the new standard, the city's 38 districts and counties that were included in the regional noise management have been re-classified. The residential and educational areas have been made the first class noise control areas where the noise in the daytime must not be over 55 dbs and over 45 dbs at night. The mixed areas for residential buildings, commercial buildings and industrial enterprises have been classified as the second class of noise control areas, industrial areas the third, and both sides along the main roads the fifth category.

Among the 11 main districts of Chongqing, six regions, including Chongqing University Cities in Shapingba District, Nanshan Railway Nursing Home and Peidu Kangzhan Yizhi Museum in Nan'an District, have been classified as first class control area.

With the expansion of road construction, Chongqing's noise pollution has become increasingly serious in recent years. This is why Chongqing Municipal Government has made the new adjustment.
