China Guodian Longyuan Electric Power Group Corporation has signed an agreement of carbon emission reduction purchase with KPC from Austria.
The signing of the agreement is another major move that Guodian Longyuan has taken in developing renewable energy, strengthening international cooperation, reducing green house emission and promoting the sustainable development of electric power and environment.
According to the agreement, KPC will purchase eight wind power programs' emission reduction from Guodian Longyuan Electric Power, which totals 3.8 million tons. The new agreement has also brought KPC's total purchase from Longyuan to 7.5 million tons.
Zhou Dabin, general manager of Guodian Longyuan Electric Power, says that the company has been engaged in optimizing its electric power structure and promoting clean energy and renewable energy development since its foundation. They have had over 5 million kilowatt in capacity, including such clean energy and renewable energy as wind power, hydropower, tide and biomass power, which can help reduce about 28 million tons of greenhouse gases each year.
Established in 1993, Guodian Longyuan is a wholly-owned company of China Guodian, a major giant of China's national power industry.
KPC is an institution of the Austrian JI/CDM Program as well as an agent of Austrian Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Resource Department, which is the supervising organization of the program.
