The China Corporate Social Responsibility Promotion Center has been formally unveiled in Beijing with Inbev, one of the largest beer brewing companies in the world, submitting its 2007 corporate citizenship responsibility report to the center.
InBev is the world's leading brewer, realizing EUR13.3 billion globally in 2006. It has a key presence in both developed and developing markets, active in seven out of the ten of the fastest growing markets worldwide. Headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, InBev employs almost 88,000 people worldwide with sales in over 130 countries.
A representative from State Environment Protection Administration has told local media that the establishment of the center will urge enterprises to strengthen and improve the management of their social responsibilities and voluntarily undertake their responsibilities, particularly their responsibility for the environment.
InBev says over the past three years, the company has reduced the steam from its brewing by 30%, which means a savings of 60000 tons of coal. In addition, the company has committed to the improvement of craftwork and recycling equipment and saved more than seven million tons in China during that the period.
James Villeneuve, vice president of Inbev Global, says that Inbev's main target in China is to build itself into an environmentally friendly modern beer brewery and the submitting of the annual report to CCSRPC, which is intended to share the company's experience with others, also shows its determination for energy-saving in China.
