Following successful charity drives throughout the years, the InterContinental Hotels Group Beijing cluster hotels jointly provided a caring hand for the children's education by organizing the third annual Cuisine for a Cause culinary competition, with over 30 chefs and bartenders taking part in the showcase event.
Roland Steiner, regional general manager of IHG for Tianjin, Qinhuangdao and Chongqing clusters, opened the event by saying, "There is nothing more sincere than our love to explore the culinary world, as it is one of the hospitality industry's key elements. We continue to search ways to amaze our guests with creativity, new flavors and new experience."
The cook-off event proved not only to be delicious, but also fun. The event took place at Holiday Inn Temple of Heaven, where the ballroom was fitted to showcase the professional skills of the chefs and bartenders. A gala dinner reception was served after the announcement of the winners, thanking sponsors that had made the program possible.
Over 2007, IHG Beijing charity drives have successfully raised a total of RMB250,000 through various charity drive events and programs. With the assistance of China Youth Development Foundation and through Project Hope the funds will be utilized to build a school in China's rural area, providing support to students and also for teachers' educational programs.
