Initiated by General Administration of Quality Inspection, Supervision of Quarantine of China and co-hosted by China's Ministry of Health and World Health Organization, International Forum on Food Safety 2007 has been successfully held in Beijing featuring top management of more than 100 Chinese enterprises and senior officials from over 40 countries and regions who gathered to discuss about such issues as food safety education and capacity construction.
During the meeting, the participating enterprises signed "Chinese Enterprises' Letter of Commitment on Food Safety", which was jointly promoted by entrepreneurs including Huiyuan Group's president Zhu Xinli and supported by concerned Chinese departments including AQSIQ. In the letter, the enterprises pledged to build and enhance their awareness of making food safety a top priority and be the most important obligation undertaken to ensure food safety.
This is the first food safety commitment that has ever been signed by Chinese enterprises.
