Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission has re-iterated that Beijing will work out some new measures to reduce traffic during the upcoming Olympic Games.
During Good Luck Beijing, a test event for the Olympic Games, Beijing adopted measures to limit the flow of traffic by increasing the use of buses and reducing the number of private cars. As a result, the traffic flow of the city was reduced.
Based on the success, Beijing plans to make some new measures to reduce traffic and increase the running of buses. With new subway lines opening, this too will reduce above-ground tension among commuters. Local authorities now say they will unveil new traffic guidelines in the coming months to prepare Beijing's citizens for the glorious Games.
