News from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Inspection Bureau is that 672 food companies in Ningxia have obtained a quality safety certificate for 878 of their food products.

To strengthen the management of food processing enterprises, Ningxia has been carrying out a special campaign since August 2007. They have signed food quality pledges with 672 food companies and 1458 food processing plants and set up a food quality pre-warning system in the food industry. They have also straightened out 16 kinds of food and 10 categories of industrial products, exposed 63 illegal food manufacturers and abolishing another 34.

Quality safety certification is regarded as an admission for products to access the consumer market and also an important certificate for consumers to judge whether food is safe or not. At present, China has adopted market access systems for 28 kinds of food products, including rice, wheat powder, edible oil, sauce, vinegar, meat and dairy products.
