The Landfill Gas Utilization Project at the North East New Territories Landfill, the largest LFG utilization project in Hong Kong, has opened. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau said he was pleased with the project which was one of the largest green energy recovery and re-use projects in the world. Landfill gas, which contains mainly methane, is a form of alternative energy.
