Company Unveils Food Safety System In Hainan
Global Food Technologies plans to install and operate its first iPura food safety system for China in Hainan.
Building upon an earlier agreement with China's Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Association, GFT executives toured many regions in China looking for the best location to begin operations. According to Shigeaki Tetsuka, GFT's vice president of Asian Operations, "We chose the Hainan Fruit Vegetable Food Allocation Co., Ltd. because of its ideal location in the South China Sea, one of the most important seafood producing regions in the world."
China is the world's leading producer and exporter of seafood products. Recently, products from China have received intense scrutiny, especially in the U.S., where five species of Chinese seafood were placed on automatic detention by the FDA.
"This Hainan location will be the first of many iPura installations in the People's Republic of China. iPura is expected to play a major role in rehabilitating China's food safety image," stated Min Han, CEO of the China Seafood Certification Institute.
