Environmental Check On Qinghai-Tibet Railway Initiated

China's State Environment Protection Administration is working with government departments and experts organized by the Ministry of Railway to check the environmental protection work of the Gela segment of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

The Gela section extends from Golmud to Lhasa. Local media reports that SEPA is checking on environment protection mechanisms and the inspectors will carefully inspect and check the measures taken for wildlife migration, measures for frozen tundra protection and vegetation protection along the railway.

In order to protect the railway on the plateau, the railway department has taken a range of measures to protect the wild animals and the ecological environment along the railway. It is said that the investment involved in the environment protection project along the Gela section of the railway has reached RMB1.54 billion.
