The Beijing Municipal Management Bureau has conducted a survey of the water conservation facilities used at hotels in the city.

The survey found that Zhongyu Century Hotel, a four-star hotel near Beijing West Railway Station, was using water systems that are illegal because of their waste of water. The Bureau says the hotel's 200 rooms will need to be refitted or face a fine of RMB100 for each room using old hardware.

The hotel has told local media that it is cooperating with the Bureau and will soon modernize its facilities.

The Bureau will continue to check at least 100 businesses and 100 hotels and shopping mall in the incoming 15 days to check their water usage facilites.
