At a press conference sponsored by the State Council Information Office this week, Gan Yisheng, a member of the Standing Committee and secretary general of CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, deputy head of the Leading Group for Transparency in Administrative Affairs and Chen Changzhi, vice minister of Ministry of Supervision, member of the Leading Group for Transparency in Administrative Affairs, briefed the press on transparency in administrative affairs of the Chinese government.

Gan said, "At present, all the departments of the State Council and local governments at various levels have carried on the work of making government affairs public in varying degrees. The town and township governments and the departments of governments at county level throughout the country have generally put up boards of making government affairs public, and governments above county level have regularly issued government public bulletins."

Gan added that 80% of the governments above county level, or their departments, have established government websites, and most of the local governments above county level and part of central state organs have established administrative service centers. More than 2,100 comprehensive administrative service centers have been established all over the country.

For dealing with journalists, 70 departments of the State Council and 31 municipalities directly under the central government have introduced a system of news briefing and have appointed news spokespersons.

A government release says the Chinese government will further intensify the work of publicizing government affairs, standardizing the content of released information, and promoting in-depth development of the work of publicizing government affairs.
