CCTV Sets Up Scholarship In Lanzhou University

The CCTV "My Long March" program has joined hands with Yunnan Menghai Tea Factory to start a scholarship to support underprivileged students living along the route of the Red Army's Long March.

TV hostesses Jing Yidan and Zhang Yue; Zhou Xuhong, president of Lanzhou University; and Wu Yuanzhi, chairman of Yunnan Menghai Tea Factory, awarded 15 students from Lanzhou University each with RMB5000 scholarships.

The "My Long March" program set up this scholarship program with Menghai Tea Factory to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Long March. The scholarship coffers hold RMB300,000 in total and each year 15 students from the school of Journalism and Communication at Lanzhou University and qualified candidates from 18 provinces and areas along the route of the Long March are eligible for the educational money.

The CCTV "My Long March" program was started on May 1, 2006 and has also already helped build over 20 elementary schools.
