Dongfang Electric, one of the government-owned companies in China that suffered the most from Sichuan earthquake, has signed a power generation deal valued at about RMB4.5 billion with China Huaneng Group, one of the largest power suppliers in China.

This is the largest deal that DE has obtained after the earthquake and it is expected to play an important role in supporting the company's reconstruction. According to the contract, China Huaneng Group will have DE produce equipment for four important power generation projects, including mainframes for six 660,000 kilowatt ultra-supercritical coal-fired programs and some wind power projects.

China Huaneng says their purpose for signing the deal is very clear — to offer full support to the enterprise's resumption of production and reconstruction.

With the approval by the State Council, China Huaneng Group has been reorganized into a state-owned enterprise with central government administration on the foundation of its predecessor. The company primarily focuses on the development of power with a diversified business portfolio.

Dongfang Electric Corporation is a China state-owned company specialized in power equipment manufacturing and worldwide power projects contracting for thermal, hydro, nuclear, wind, gas turbine, combined cycle power plant and power distribution systems.
