Dongfang Electric has signed a nuclear power deal worth about CNY5 billion with China National Nuclear Corporation.

This is the largest deal the Dongfang Electric has reached since the Sichuan earthquake which has caused a great damage to the company's affiliate Dongfang Steam Turbine Company.

Dongfang Electric and CNNC have been close partners in pushing the national production of nuclear power. After learning that the May 12 Sichuan earthquake has caused great loss to Dongfang Electric, CNNC immediately donated CNY6.3 million to Dongfang Electric and sent staff to offer medical relief.

The signing of the deal between the parties means that a great step has been made in Wanjiashan Nuclear program and Fuqing Nuclear program, two major nuclear power projects undertaken by CNNC and a quickening of China's national nuclear power production for alternative energy sources.

Dongfang Electric Corporation is a leading state-owned power generation equipment maker, listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
