National Building Decoration Standard Issued In China

China's Ministry of Environmental Protection and the China Real Estate and Housing Research Association held a press conference in Beijing to cover the "Technical Requirement for Environmental Labelling Products — Building Decoration Engineering" which will be brought into effect on September 1, 2008.

The standard has subscribed the terms, definitions, basic requirements, technical contents, and checking methods for building decoration engineering, is applicable to civil building decoration projects and the certification of China Environmental Labelling.

It adopts credit scores for planning and design, decoration materials, construction and indoor air quality to evaluate the building engineering's environmental performances.

The list of decoration projects that have obtained China Environmental Labelling status was also unveiled in the conference. Altogether, 15 projects including the National Stadium in Beijing and the National Aquatic Center have been included.
