The Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau has revoked the star qualifications of ten hotels and downgraded one other hotel.

The ten hotels lost their qualifications after failure to fix problems associated with their respective establishments.

The ten hotels that have been removed of their star status are Zhumadian Youdian Dasha, Henan Wuhua Hotel, Zhengzhou Sanyuan Hotel, Kaifei Dianye Hotel, Shangqiu Shangdu Hotel, Nanyang Dengzhou Hotel, Jiaozuo Guangyuan Hotel, Jiaozuo Mudan Hotel, Jiaozuo Junren Reception, and Puyang Qingfeng Hotel. The hotel that has been downgraded from four stars to three stars is Jiaozuo Shanyang Hotel.

Sixteen other star-grade hotels have been notified of problems in their respective hotels and have been asked to fix those problems or risk losing their stars.

In 2005, Henan Provincial Star-grade Hotel Assessment Association checked 60 hotels in the province, and identified problems in some of them. The problems include aging equipment, insufficient maintenance, and declining service quality.
