In order to protect consumers' rights, the China Consumers' Association (CCA) has named "Consumption Harmony" as its theme for 2007.

According to the group, Consumption Harmony means establishing a harmonious consumption concept within the entire society. It requires operators, consumers, government agencies and related departments to fulfill their social responsibility in order to create a sound market environment and to promote the construction of a harmonious society.

Mu Jianhua, vice chairman of the CCA Council, says that harmony is the cornerstone of consumption in China, and there are still many problems that violate the rights and interests of consumers such as neglect of consumers' suggestions, food safety risks, and misleading advertising. Mu says the theme of Consumption Harmony also has significant importance in upgrading China's international influence.

CCA will further popularize the annual theme Consumption Harmony during the International Day for Consumers' Rights on March 15, and also carry out a series of activities to highlight the theme and other corporate social responsibility ideals.

Founded in 1984, CCA is a national organization legally registered to protect consumers' interests by means of supervision of commodities and services. An annual theme for CCA has been announced each year since 1997. The annual theme for 2006 was Consumption and Environment.
