March 16 saw the establishment of the Green Bank, the first of its kind in Hunan Province, in Xinyuan Community, Guihuaping Street, Tianxin District.

Yi Sihan, a pupil from Guihuaping Primary School, became the first customer of the Bank where the student exchanged the plastic bags he had collected for seedlings.

The Green Bank, which reportedly consists of a waste recycling area, a seedling adoption area, a planting and conservation area and a green fund area, will open doors to customers every weekend. Customers only need to deliver their rubbish to the Bank before they can register at the green fund area and exchange their waste for green funds. They can then use the green funds to purchase their favorite seedlings and grow them with the guidance of a Green Ambassador, a special representative from the Bank who assists people who want to plant trees.
