Open source software firm Redhat says it wants the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum certification for its Beijing office.

Completed in December 2012, Red Hat's office in Beijing consists of approximately 21,500 square feet and encompasses an entire floor of an existing LEED certified building. The new space provides seating for approximately 160 associates.

The Beijing office reportedly has many of the same sustainability elements of other global locations but is also within walking distance of public transportation, restaurants, and other community services.

The company did not provide a timeframe for when it expects to gain the LEED certification.
