Representatives from Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Shenzhen signed a cooperation agreement with Beijing Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Center to start an energy conservation campaign and to raise the awareness among citizens.
To implement "The Notice of the State Council on Printing and Distributing Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Comprehensive Working Plan", the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China has carried out schemes that building energy conservation should save the equivalent of 100 million tons of coal by the end of Eleventh Five-year Plan.
To improve the public's awareness of building energy conservation, the China End-Use Energy Efficiency Project has started a sustainable building energy conservation campaign, which is also undertaken by Beijing Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Center.
