China's central finance department has allocated CNY17.85 billion to ensure the normal operation of primary and middle schools in the rural areas of the country during the autumn semester.
The central finance department requires that all the fund be delivered to rural schools, particularly those smaller and poorer ones, as soon as possible and that the funds be equitably distributed among the schools according to their needs.
Including the subsidy it offered in February to rural schools for the spring semester, the total amount of subsidies that China has given to schools in the rural areas in 2009 has reached CNY35.69 billion.
